Special Education: Generalist Licensure graduates earn a Bachelor of Arts in two majors: Liberal Arts for Education and K-12 Special Education. The Liberal Arts for Education Major is required because of its interdisciplinary character and comprehensive coverage of academic knowledge and skills required for special education teachers. Students will also receive a second major, K-12 Special Education. The Special Education: Generalist Licensure program is 120 credit hours and offers supervised clinical practice experiences in elementary, middle, and high school settings for students aged 5-21. Upon program completion, the candidate has met all requirements for an institutional recommendation for an Initial Colorado Teacher License with an Endorsement in the area of K-12 Special Education Generalist.

Students in the Special Education: Generalist Licensure BA may choose the Dual Degree program track (see CUS Dual Degree Programs), earning their Special Education: Generalist program BA degree and nine graduate-level credit hours that can be applied toward CCU's program. Course requirements for the Dual Degree program are listed under the 'Program Requirements' tab.

CCU graduates of the Special Education: Generalist Licensure program are also eligible to apply for a Colorado Teaching Endorsement in K-6 Elementary Education upon successfully passing the Colorado-approved Elementary Education licensure exam.

CCU graduates of the Special Education: Generalist Licensure program earn three CCU areas of emphasis: Biblical Studies, Reading Literacy, and Social Studies.

The Special Education: Generalist Licensure program, traditional track, requires completion of 120 credit hours:
