The Associate of Arts (AA) in Communication Studies is a two year, 60 credit hour program providing an introduction to the field of communication studies taught from an evangelical Christian worldview. This major explores the role of effective communication skills including interactive and public communication, mass communication, and intercultural communication.  Students are introduced to the role of technology, including social media, in the field of communication. Finally, the degree also examines the legal and ethical aspects of the field of communication related to common law and statutes, integrated with biblical principles.

The AA in Communication Studies requires a total of 60 credit hours for graduation, which includes 30 credit hours of general education coursework, 18 credit hours of Communication Studies major coursework, and 12 credit hours of elective coursework. College, military, technical school and prior learning credits can be used toward the AA in Communication Studies degree. Students may transfer in a maximum of 45 credit hours (75% of the degree requirements). Students may take a maximum of 15 credit hours of 300 and 400 level courses in the AA degree program.

Communication Studies major courses are offered online only, providing maximum flexibility to study at convenient times and places.

All 18 hours of major coursework, as well as the general education and elective credit hours, may be transferred to the program degree at Colorado Christian University. This accelerated program allows for greater freedom in meeting course requirements that fit the unique scheduling needs of working adults.
