Course Description

Counseling Residency II: Orientation to Clinical Practice and Intermediate Clinical Skills Development. This course provides intensive preparation, orienting students to their second year of courses and field experiences. Core counseling concepts and integration of past, present, and future course essentials are introduced, reviewed, applied, and assessed. Intermediate counseling skills development, including enhancement of basic counseling skills, suicide assessment, and planning skills, are practiced and assessed. Clinical interview skills and appraisal techniques are introduced and assessed. A repeat of this course may be required if the student is unable to complete CSL-514 Counseling Practicum within the standard course progression or if a student steps outside the normal course progression and/or extends their program.
