The Northern Ireland Semester (NIS) is located in Belfast, the capital and largest city in Northern Ireland, and the second largest city in all of Ireland. While a student at NIS, students stay at Lakeside Manor, a charming 19th century mansion located just 4 miles from Belfast’s city center.  As part of the travel component of the program, students adventure all over the Irish isle visiting important cultural and historical landmarks like Saul, the site of St. Patrick’s first church in Ireland, the North coast, and Dublin Castle. Belfast is also a central location for travel throughout the United Kingdom and Europe, which students enjoy exploring during their free weekends.

In addition, students experience the deep impact of the religious and political conflict that has been an important part of Northern Ireland’s history.

The Council for Christian Colleges & Universities (CCCU), an association of more than 150 campuses around the world, offers semester and summer programs to students of its member institutions. The programs offer a unique opportunity for students to make the world their classroom, going beyond the confines of the traditional classroom. These interdisciplinary learning opportunities are available to upper-class students. For further information, contact CCU’s Life Directions Center (LDC)  for CCU-specific application procedures.
