CCU’s Associate of Science (A.S.) in Psychology is a two year, 60 credit hour program providing an introduction to the field of psychology from an evangelical Christian perspective. This major provides a foundation in prominent psychology domains such as human development, personal and social interactions, behavioral patterns, and transformational habits in living the abundant life in Christ. This dynamic menu of courses allows students to fulfill the Associate degree requirements with a seamless segue to the Bachelor of Science: Psychology (CAGS) , transferring all 18 credit hours of this major, as well as the general education and elective courses.
Prior college, military, technical credits and prior learning credit can be used toward the A.S. degree. Students may transfer in a maximum of 45 credit hours (75% of the degree requirements). Students may take a maximum of 15 credit hours of 300 and 400 level courses in the A.S. degree program. This accelerated program allows for greater freedom in meeting course requirements courses that fit the unique scheduling needs of working adults.
The Associate of Science in Psychology requires completion of the following 60 credit hours:
General Education (36 hours)
Psychology Major (18 hours)
Electives (6 hours)
General Education Core (36 credit hours)
Integrative Studies (3 credit hours)
Biblical Studies (3 credit hours)
Communications (9 credit hours)
Additional Written Communication (choose one)
Oral / Interpersonal Communication (choose one)
Computer Science (3 credit hours)
Only courses completed within the past 5 years will be accepted to complete the General Education core requirement.
History, Behavioral, and Social Sciences (6 credit hours)
Choose courses from two different disciplines. Must include one history (HIS prefix) course.
Humanities (6 credit hours)
Choose courses from two different disciplines. PHL 205A is required.
Mathematics (3 credit hours)
Choose one Mathematics course.
Natural Science (3 credit hours)
Choose one Science course.
Major Core Requirements (18 credit hours)
Elective Requirements (6 credit hours)
Complete 6 hours of elective credits.
Graduation Requirements for Associate of Science in Psychology Degree
The faculty recommends students in the A.S. in Psychology to the Board of Trustees as candidates for graduation when they have completed the following requirements.
- Completion of 60 credit hours as specified in the course requirements listed above. (A maximum of 15 credit hours of 300/400 level courses.)
- A letter grade of D or better in all courses and a cumulative GPA of 2.0 in all CCU coursework.
- Meet the CCU Residency requirements .
- Formal and timely application for graduation by the date specified by the University Registrar.
- No outstanding financial obligation to the University.
