Political Science at Colorado Christian University deliberately combines philosophic breadth and theological insight with practical relevance. Students explore human nature and ethics along with political and economic power and history. They are led to grapple with the meaning and significance of the American Founding, with the relation of virtue and liberty to the rule of law and human happiness, and with the current political landscape, derived as it is from the influence of Progressivism and the “Crisis of the West.” But beyond these studies they can get involved in local politics or intern at the State Capitol or our own Centennial Institute. There are annual trips to Washington D.C. where students can learn for themselves or lead others and build useful connections for their futures.
The Political Science major at Colorado Christian University is designed to prepare students for a number of careers, including those of public service, jurisprudence, and political consulting. Students will also be prepared for graduate school or law school. The major doubles easily with others majors such as Global Studies, History, Communication, Business or Psychology. The ultimate aim is to prove a sufficient foundation for our students to think as free Christians, to live as responsible citizens of our Republic, and for those capable and interested, to embark on a lifetime task of statesmanship.
