Alternative Licensing Program

Colorado Christian University has established an Alternative Teacher Program as permitted by Colorado Revised Statutes (2260.5-R-18.00). This is a one-year program, designed in conjunction with public and private schools in Colorado for alternative teachers to be employed full time to teach, receive training, and to be supervised by a mentor teacher and a support team. The training shall include the equivalent of 225 clock hours of planned instruction and activities, including training in dropout prevention, to assist the alternative teacher to earn a provisional teaching license. This is the standard entry-level license in Colorado. Students who wish to pursue Alternative Licensing must have a completed Bachelor’s Degree.

Alternative Licensing Program leads to a teaching license with 15 credits. Alternative Licensing coursework may be applied to a Master’s degree in Curriculum and Instruction .

Master’s degree (19 additional credits)


For students wishing to earn the Master of Arts in Curriculum and Instruction (MACI) , an additional 19 credits of MACI coursework needs to be completed. Contact your academic advisor for additional information.
