Designed majors must be approved by the faculty advisor, the Dean of the where most credits will be taken and by the University Registrar. The proposal for a designed major must include a list of course requirements for the major and a detailed explanation indicating why an existing major or combination of majors/minors cannot meet the educational objectives of the student.

A designed major must have a minimum of 36 credits but not more than 52 credits from the major or majors offered at CCU. The proposal must include 12 credits from at least two academic departments with a minimum of one-third of the courses being 300 or 400 level courses. A maximum of 6 credits can be used to meet general education requirements or the requirements of a double major. There is a 6 credits limit that will be accepted as independent study courses toward a second major or degree. To provide courses in disciplines not offered in the university curriculum, Colorado Christian University occasionally works in cooperation with other educational institutions. This enables students to gain experience not otherwise available to them while benefiting from the biblical studies and Christian environment offered to resident students.
