MAT 420 - Probability and Statistics(4) Basic probability topics and statistical theory, focusing on data and the skills and mathematical tools needed to collect and analyze data. Elementary probability including the study of event trees, conditional probability, and Bayes’ Theorem. Basic distributions (normal, binomial, chi square, exponential, poisson, etc.) used to model variability in data sets. Methods of statistical inference including parameter estimation and hypotheses testing.
Prerequisites: MAT 241.
