Music Theory I: Elements of Music

Course Description

This course is the first semester of a four-semester sequence required of all music majors. Comprehensive musicianship through hearing, analyzing, and composing. Musical elements covered include melody, rhythm (including simple and compound meter), major and minor modes, chord structure, phrase structure, realization of figured bass, and basic counterpoint. Corequisite: MUS 113
