Course Description

An exploration of music in the broader context of culture and the arts; personal musical experiences through listening and doing; and developing the ability to discern aesthetic craftsmanship. Included is an introduction to the elements of music and how music works, the development of a Christian perspective on the arts, a broad survey of representative selections of Westem music, and a focused overview of non-western/world music.Notes: This course satisfies the general education fine arts requirement for most students. It is recommended for all students, especially those with an interest in music, and is the required fine arts course for all music majors and minors. Students with a special interest in Theatre should see THR 112.Note: MUS 110 may not satisfy the fine arts requirement for education majors.Course Fee: Course fees apply.
