English Composition Sequence
Colorado Christian University seeks to equip students with the skills necessary to think analytically and express those thoughts clearly. The English Composition sequence is designed to provide the foundation of effective written communication skills that enable students to be successful in further study at CCU and in professional endeavors.
CCU requires new undergraduate students to complete the following English Composition sequence:
- ENG 101A Basic Composition - may be used to fulfill general elective requirements
- Placement in ENG 101A achieved by appropriate skill level through English composition placement test
- ENG 102A English Composition - fulfills general education written communication requirement
- Prerequisite - ENG 101A Basic Composition OR
- Placement in ENG 102A achieved by appropriate skill level through English Composition placement test
The English Composition placement test is designed to assess the level of written communication ability of entering undergraduate students, and place students in the appropriate course for their skill level.
Students may be exempt from the English Composition sequence, and satisfy general education written communication requirements, by submitting transferable English Composition coursework with a grade of C- or higher.
Students with ENG 102A credit (either at CCU, by course transfer, or test transfer), applied to the general education English Composition requirement, are not eligible to go backward in progression and earn credit for ENG 101A. This course is foundational to college-level composition and would duplicate competencies the student has already demonstrated in ENG 102A.
